How the outside temperature affects your data center cooling system and pizza baking.

Data center cooling and pizza baking? Yes! It may sound peculiar, but both cooling systems and pizza baking are heavily influenced by the temperature of the air.

When you make pizza dough and want it to leaven, it is heavily influenced by the air temperature. You can speed it up with warmer air or slow it down with cooler air. The same affect is relevant to your data center cooling system.

You design a cooling system for a certain load, but then the temperature outside drops and you throttle it down to accommodate the more favorable conditions and to use less resources, but there are unintended consequences you may not have considered.

Join Data Center Cooling experts, Cosimo Pecchioli (the pizza maker!) and Kristi Smith, for a fun and relaxed conversation about the problems of partial flow in cooling systems and the unwanted consequence of fouling or ending up with “dough” in your heat exchanger.

What you’ll learn:

  • What is partial flow and why it may be a challenge for a heat exchanger?
  • What possible solutions are available to minimize that risk?
  • How to bake a true Italian pizza! For real, Cosimo will bake a pizza at the same time he and Kristi are dropping knowledge!
