Alfa Laval Fuel Management Course

This 2+1 day course will answer the following questions for you

  • Which problems are anticipated for the future fuels? 
  • What to expect changing between fuels and which issues are involved?
  • How often is poor quality fuel oil bunkered?
  • What are the consequences for the ship operators in ECA?
  • Fuel quality affect on the fuel cleaning plant and operation of the engine?
  • Adjusting the fuel cleaning plant for the best performance?

Highly qualified and experienced trainers from Alfa Laval and VPS

The arrangers are Alfa Laval and Veritas Petroleum Services. The lecturers are senior VPS and Alfa Laval personnel with a high level of education and many years of practical experience.

Target group

The course is aimed at both sea-going and shore-based staff, technical as well as operational.           

Course topics

Due to the changes in ECA operation to 0.10% sulphur limit January 1st 2015 we have now divided the course in two parts; day 1 and 2 is HFO operation and the 3rd day dedicated to GO and "alternative ECA fuel" operation.

  • Marine Fuels qualities worldwide
  • Fuel testing - accuracy of test methods
  • Damage to machinery
  • MARPOL Annex VI ECA
  • Capabilities of the fuel treatment plants
  • System know-how
  • Optimal fuel treatment
  • Centrifuge operation
  • Emergency operation

Day 3:

  • Gas oil - sources/compositions
  • MARPOL Annex VI, ECA
  • Fuel testing - accuracy of test methods
  • Damage to machinery
  • Capabilities of the fuel treatment plants and recommended installation
  • Optimal fuel treatment
  • Centrifuge operation

The course is a mix of lectures and group work with case stories.

Course fee

Course fees per participants are as follows:
Standard FMC + Distillate (all three days): USD 2,250 (excl. VAT). The fee includes:

  • Dinner on day 1
  • Mid-morning and afternoon coffee and tea breaks
  • Lunch on first, second and third day

Standard FMC (1st and 2nd day): USD 1,700 (excl. VAT). The fee includes:

  • Dinner on day 1
  • Mid-morning and afternoon coffee and tea breaks
  • Lunch on first and second day

Distillate (3rd day): USD 1,000 (excl. VAT). The fee includes:

  • Mid-morning and afternoon coffee and tea breaks
  • Lunch 

 "Early bird" discount: If you register 2 months in advance or earlier, you will get a 15% discount on the participant fee.
